StudySpot Vancouver

Watch Cindy’s recent interview on Savant & Sage!  Cindy discusses Executive Function and how Academic Coaching is an effective support for students who struggle to keep organized and manage themselves academically.

Cindy Barnett Stibbard is pleased to be joining StudySpot and bringing Academic Coaching support to Vancouver and the North Shore.

After leaving her ten year teaching career at a private school in West Vancouver in 2008, Cindy Barnett Stibbard began Ms. Barnett’s Tutoring Company so she could keep her hands in the world of education while raising her children.  She sees Academic Coaching to be a natural fit to the tutoring services she has provided her community for the past 11 years.

Cindy is a natural educator. She appreciates that each young mind is unique and that every student has the competence to succeed if provided the proper tools to do so. She loves to help students of all ages reach their full potential and to truly instill in them a love of life-long learning.

Cindy has spent a significant amount of her career working with children with various learning differences; specifically Dyslexia.  Having a Dyslexic son herself, she appreciates the great importance of supporting learning by teaching the specific skills students need in order to strengthen their confidence to succeed.  Cindy also has experience working with students who struggle with attention deficit and weak executive functioning.

When Cindy discovered StudySpot, their simple philosophy resonated strongly with her.  She too believes that the key to academic success comes not from content-specific academic support alone, but primarily from equipping students with the organization and academic tools they require to be effective learners.   StudySpot offers just that, and Cindy is very excited to bring the StudySpot brand of Academic Coaching to the students of Vancouver and the North Shore.

In any given moment we have two options: to step forwards into growth or to step back into safety.”  Abraham Maslow
