Lisa Eastick | Educator & Learning Specialist
Lisa’s career in education has spanned over 25 years, with the last 15 of those years spent in London, Ontario. Experience in the learning support teacher role has enabled her to develop connections with professionals in the psycho-education field from Western University and private practices, fostering a deep understanding about successful learning and barriers that can stand in the way. Lisa is also familiar with the school system in Elgin County, as she has two teenage children who attend(ed) secondary school in St. Thomas and West Lorne.
As a teacher specializing in differential instruction, Lisa has been driven by her thirst for knowledge. A life-long learner, Lisa has encouraged students to embrace learning and the opportunity for success. Her experience in overseeing supportive practices and developing literacy programs has lent itself well to mentoring teachers, coaches and parents in guiding students toward the meaningful acquisition of knowledge and skills.
Combining her degree in psychology, elementary Montessori teaching qualifications, training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and recent completion of a Graduate Diploma in Education focusing on assessment and evaluation, Lisa has first-hand understanding about the determinants of effective learning. Structure and active engagement of students’ perceptions and attention are the key components of successful instruction.
Lisa is excited to bring StudySpot to London and Elgin County. Skilled coaches drawn from the surrounding area will equip youths in grades 7 to 12 with ‘tried and tested’ tools to succeed. Lisa’s experience with children of varying learning profiles has taught her that working one on one is a powerful way to fully engage students in their journey through school. Students that work with coaches have an increased awareness of the consequences of action or inaction. When they know what they need to do to be successful, they are more willing to hold themselves accountable and go the extra mile on their volition.
