Academic Behaviour Coaching for grades K-6.

The purpose of the Academic Behaviour Coaching (ABC) program is to develop and supplement Executive Function (EF) skills in elementary students.  Part of the motivation for this is improved academic performance and the building of life-skills that are necessary for professional and social success

This is accomplished in 3 ways:

1) the instruction of skills

2) the application of those skills to daily life and routine, including academic responsibilities

3) the development of habits and behaviours that support and extend these skills.

This program is particularly effective for students with a diagnosis of ADHD or weak Executive Function but is beneficial for all students who need help with organization and establishing academic routines.  Based on information from parents, teachers, and other support professionals, we prioritize the specific skills needed for each student.

Skills focused on can include:

-physical organization

-academic habits and routines

-positive thinking and problem solving

-self-confidence and self-sufficiency

-assignment and due date tracking

-comprehension strategies

-good study habits

-memorization techniques

-and more
