Due to the recent global health crisis resulting in strict social distancing measures and school closures, StudySpot Vancouver has transitioned our Executive Function and Academic Coaching support to be delivered and available to you online with ZOOM.

What We Offer:  We focus first on establishing solid executive functioning skills in our students such as organization/planning, prioritizing, task initiation and strategies for attention and focus. In addition to these, we are able move to the practical application of academic skills as they relate to students’ current schoolwork such as reading comprehension, writing skills, study strategies and note taking. Our coaches also specialize in content support offering a wide range of knowledge and academic expertise in various core subjects from Grade 7 through upper University levels.

Additional Resources: Coaches will continue to utilize the Study Skills Manual and will have access to electronic versions of all the paper forms and templates typically used during coaching sessions.  However, coaches will now have access to additional online tools and resources such as a whiteboard, screen share annotation, shared documents, and video to facilitate effective, engaging and interactive coaching sessions.

Convenience: Our online coaching and tutoring program offers convenient access, flexible scheduling and consistent support to help your child adapt and navigate our new education normal.

Sessions: The most significant impact of online sessions will be the ability to schedule multiple sessions per week if desired.   The flexibility of online meetings will allow for a schedule that includes a “primary” work session followed by shorter “check-in” session(s) throughout the week.  Not only will this method be effective for all types of learning and compliment all learning styles, it will be specifically effective for supporting students who need executive functioning support as well as those students struggling with ADHD.

School Closures and Independent Learning:  During the current school closures, many of our coaches are in a position to support your son or daughter at various times throughout the week and possibly multiple times per week if needed.  The current online home learning programs rolled out by your independent school or district, require all students to take independent initiative and demonstrate self-directed behaviour.  This will understandably be a challenge for many, if not most, middle and high school students.  Our coaches are here to help your son or daughter, or yourself, manage the unstructured time and guide him or her through how to work independently whether it be assigned homework/assignments via Google Classroom or a transition to online courses.
