In 2003, John Williams joined Steve as partner at StudySpot. John brought to StudySpot his philosophy and approach to communicating and motivating teenage boys and girls. He and Steve adopted a traditional model for athletic success and applied it to academic success, one that focuses on the interplay between natural ability, effort, and skill development.  This unique approach to helping students formed the foundation for our Academic Coaching service.

Naomi James

Naomi James is a former athlete and current coach who knows how important academics are. Naomi’s passion lies in helping others be their best selves. As a current mental performance coach and an academic coach, Naomi is passionate about helping youth develop tools that will help them overcome any obstacles they may encounter, either in the classroom or on the field of play. Naomi joined StudySpot because she knows how important developing tools can be for long-term success. Naomi believes in the coaching model, being a current coach herself and resides in Durham Region where she works extensively with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Women’s Basketball team.

As a local Naomi attended Pickering High School. After graduating, she was recruited in Quebec where she completed her DEC at Champlain Regional College. Naomi went on after graduating to Bishop’s University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sports Studies. She then went on to do her masters in Sport Psychology at the University of Ottawa and now runs her own private practice working with high performers delivering Sport Psychology services.

Naomi played many sports but her passion always lied with Basketball. She started playing basketball at a young age, and went on to Champlain Regional College where she played for two years. From there, she was recruited to play basketball at the University of Bishop’s where she played 3 years. Naomi now coaches at Ontario Tech University with the Women’s Basketball Program.

Naomi has her own private practice working with athletes and high performers to develop the mental side of their game/performance. Naomi uses mental skills to help high-achievers develop tools that will help them overcome obstacles and elevate their performance. Naomi works in depth with Ontario Tech both as an assistant coach but also as the Mental Performance Coach (MPC). She also runs her own private practice working with individual athletes from different sports. She has worked with professional athletes to youth athletes and enjoys helping them on their journeys.
